Foster Consulting Group, Inc. (FCG), founded in 1995 by Ken Foster, provides consulting services in the areas of MVS document archive systems and VSAM database modifications and conversion.  FCG provides services for a number of hardware and software partners, including Allen Systems Group, Inc., EMC, Sun, IBM, and Bus-Tech. 

The Storage Hierarchy Implementation and Planning (SHIP™) suite of products provides  customers the tools to extract and analyze SMF records from ASG/Mobius ViewDirect/MVS and MCDS and FSR records from DFhsm.  These tools assist in planning, designing, sizing, modeling, and monitoring the storage and retrieval aspects of large document archive and data retrieval systems.

Additional services focus on ASG/Mobius ViewDirect conversion, archive moving (internally, or from one datacenter to another), and consolidation of system data and archives.

FCG has recently developed a number of utilities that will enable customers to convert KSDS VSAM files to flat ASCII files to ingest into client server databases, as well as programs that can change and modify VSAM files that remain in MVS.
